Game films are posted as “unlisted” on youtube

November 12, 2024

Youtube allows for three types of “visibility” for videos posted to the platform:

  • Public: Everyone can see your video as soon as it’s done being processed. It’s also discoverable to all of YouTube and most other search engines on the internet. This offers NO Security.
  • Unlisted: Your video can be viewed by anyone, but they need the link to do so. This offers SOME Security, provided everyone with the link is respectful of the link and does not publish it out to social media etc. The Security is only as strong as those that are safeguarding it.
  • Private: Only those people specifically invited will be able to see the video. This offer FULL security, but is VERY hard to manage and maintain. Redwolf will NOT utilize this model.

Your games will be posted as UNLISTED, as a simple way for you to share the link(s) to your team without making it publicly available to your opponents. We suggest you share TTHIS BLOG POST with your team so everyone understands the “unlisted” model, along with the risks of not protecting the link(s).

If you have purchased more than on game, Redwolf will also post all of your games into “unlisted” playlist(s). Playlists provide you an easier way to access ALL the games within without having manage the unlisted links for each film. Unlisted playlist operate the same way as unlisted videos. Playlists are NOT visible on the Redwolf Youtube channel and are only accessible via the links provided to you. You can discussed with your Redwolf contact if you wish for the game films to be organized into a playlist for an entire season, or perhaps a playlist for each tournament event you participate in.

If you are not concerned with visibility security and wish for your films to be made public, please notify your Redwolf contact. This is commonly done at the conclusion of a season when opponent scouting is not so much of a concern.

Many people enjoy watching these game films on a smart TV however unlisted videos or playlists can make that challenging. Please read this other blog post for tips and tricks for viewing on a TV
